Muscle Strain:


Muscle strain can happen from lifting something heavy, quick movement, or be caused from a fall. As the muscles become strained or torn, they become inflamed. This is one of the causes of low back pain, because inflammation can promote muscles to go into spasms and restrict movement. The body tries to protect itself by going into spasms and causes low back pain to occur making movement difficult.


Herniated Disc:


One of the causes of low back pain is to have a herniated disc. The discs in our spine are like a shock absorber that cushions the bones as we move. If the disc slips forward in the lower back it can cause low back pain and also leg pain as well. This can usually be worse after standing or sitting for a long period of time.


Degenerative Disc Disease:


Another one of the causes of low back pain is degenerative disc disease. This is usually in the form of arthritis and this condition breaks down the cartilage between the joints. The lack of cartilage causes low back pain and is usually felt more in the morning and evenings.


There are still other causes of low back pain that you might not think of. Obesity is fast becoming a problem in the U.S. and it can cause low back problem. Stress, an uncomfortable bed, or sleeping position can be causes of low back pain along with one you might be surprised at, smoking. Yes, smoking can be one of the causes of low back pain as smoking reduces blood flow to the lower spine, resulting in disc degeneration. Lack of regular exercise can also be one of the causes of low back pain.
